Chapter
10 - The Yoga of Divine Glories
The
Blessed Sri Krsn said:
Arjun,
hear once again to My supreme Word, which
I shall speak to you, who are so loving,
out of solicitude for your welfare. (10.01)
Neither
gods nor the great sages know the secret
of MY origin; for I am the prime cause in
all respects of gods as well as the great
sages. (10.02)
He
who knows Me in reality as birthless and
without beginning, and as the supreme Lord
of the Universe, he, undeluded among men,
is purged of all sins. (10.03)
Reason,
right knowledge, unclouded understanding,
forbearance, veracity control over the
senses and mind, joy and sorrow, evolution
and dissolution, fear and fearlessness,
non-violence, equanimity, contentment,
austerity, charity, fame, and obloquy, -
these diverse traits of creatures emanate
from Me alone. (10.04 - 05).
The
seven great seers, their four elders (Sanaka
and others), and the fourteen Manus or
progenitors of mankind (such as
Swayambhuva and his successors), who are
all devoted to Me, were born of My will;
from all these creatures in the world have
descended. (10.06)
He
who knows in reality this supreme divine
glory and supernatural power of Mine gets
established in Me through unfaltering
devotion; of this there is no doubt.
(10.07)
I
am the source of all creation and
everything in the world moves because of
Me; knowing thus the wise, full of
devotion, constantly worship Me. (10.08)
With
their minds absorbed in Me, and their
lives surrendered unto Me, enlightening
one about My greatness and speaking of Me;
they remain ever content and take delight
in Me. (10.09)
On
those ever united through meditation with
Me and worshipping Me with love, I confer
that Yoga of wisdom through which they
come to Me. (10.10)
In
order to shower My grace on them, I
dwelling in their heart, dispel the
darkness born of ignorance by the shinning
light of wisdom. (10.11)
Arjun
said:
You
are the transcend Eternal, the supreme
Abode and the greatest purifier; all the
seers speak of You as the eternal divine
Purusa, the primal Deity, unborn and all
pervading. Likewise, speak the celestial
sage Narada, the sages Asita and Devala
and the great Sage Vyasa; and Yourself too
proclaim this to me. (10.12 - 13)
O
Krsn, I believe as true all that You tell
Me, O Lord, Neither demons nor gods are
aware of Your manifestations through
sport. (10.14)
O
Creator of all beings, O Ruler of
creatures, God of gods, the Lord of the
Universe, O Supreme person, You alone know
what You are by Yourself. (10.15)
Therefore,
You alone can describe in full Your divine
glories, whereby You stand pervading all
these worlds. (10.16)
O
Master of Yoga, through what process of
continuous meditation shall I know You?
And in what particular forms, O Lord are
You to be meditated upon by me? (10.17)
O
Krsn, tell me once more in detail Your
power of Yoga and Your glory; for I know
no satiety in hearing Your nectar-link
words. (10.18)
The
Blessed Sri Krsn said:
O
Arjun, now I shall tell you My conspicuous
divine glories; for there is no limit to
My magnitude. (10.19)
O
Arjun, I am the Universal Self seated in
the heart of all beings; so I alone am the
beginning and middle and also the end of
all beings. (10.20)
I

among the Yaksas (Genies) and Raksas
(demons); I am the fire among the Vasus;
and I am Meru among the mountain peaks.
(10.23)
Among
the priests, O Parth, know Me to be their
chief Brhaspati; among generals I am
Skanda; among the seats of water, I am the
ocean. (10.24)
Among
the great seers I am Bhrigu, of the swords
I am the monosyllable 'Om'; of sacrifices
of the constant repetition of the Lord's
name; and the immovable, the Himalaya.
(10.25)
Of
all trees I am asvattha (the holy fig
tree); among the celestial sages, Narada;
among the Gandharvas (celestial songster),
chritraratha; among the siddhas (the
Perfects), the sage Kapila. (10.26)
Among
the horses know Me to be Uchchaihsrava

Of
weapons I am the thunderbolt; of cows I am
the celestial cow Kamadhenu. I am the

procreation; of serpents I am Vasuki.
(10.28)
Of

Among
the demons I am Prahalada; among the
reckoners I am Time; among beasts, I am

Among
the purifiers, I am the wind; among
wielders of weapon I am Ram; Among fishes
I am alligator; and among rivers I am the
Ganges. (10.31)
O
Arjun, I am the beginning, the middle, and
the end of the creations. Of sciences, I
am the science of the self (soul); in
debates I am the reason. (10.32)
Of
letters I am "A"; among the
words-compound I am the dual compound, I
am the verily the endless time, I am the
sustainer of all, Having My face on all
sides. (10.33)
I
am the all-devouring death. I am the

(10.35)
I

of the resolute; the goodness of the good.
(10.36)
Among

among the Pandavas, Dhananjaya (Arjun);
among the sages I am Vyasa and among the
seers I am the sage Sukra. (10.37)
I
am the ruling power (punishment) in
rulers; I am righteousness in those who
seek victory. Of secrets I am the silence
and I am wisdom of the wise. (10.38)
O
Arjun, I am the seed of all beings. There
is no creature, animate of inanimate that
can exist without Me. (10.39)
O
harasser of foes, there is no end of My
divine glories; this is only a brief
description of Me of the extent of My
glories. (10.40)
Every
such being is glorious, brilliant or
powerful, know that to be a manifestation
of a spark of My splendor. (10.41)
Or
what need is there, O Arjun, for the
detailed knowledge? I stand supporting the
whole universe with single fragment of
Myself. (10.42)
Thus
with the utterance of Om, Tat, Sat, the
names of the Lord, in the Upanishad of the
Bhagawad Gita, the knowledge of Brahma,
the Supreme, the science of Yoga and the
dialogue between Sri Krsn and Arjun, this
