The
word ‘Jyotish’ comes from the
Sanskrit language. "Jyoti"
meaning light, "ish" the
prefix of the Sanskrit word ‘Ishwar’
or God means ‘made of’, so Jyotish
mean "Made of Light",
"The Light of God" or in
other words "The study of
Light." The word Light is the
keyword here. Though Jyotish uses the
Graha (Planets) in its calculations,
it does not mean that the Planets rule
or govern us, they are used as a
metaphor, a device in this science. We
should not take it too literally, but
unfortunately, many traditional
Astrologers do. Jyotish is the science
of our existence in this physical,
astral and causal body and our
relationship with Nature (God). The
existence out there is macrocosm and
the existence within the body is the
microcosmic of the same. My definition
is that Jyotish is the study of that
microcosmic.
Indian
philosophy and yoga sutras mention the
seven bodies, the seven chakras
(psychic centers) within our body. The
first is at the base of the spine and
the last is above the head. The cosmic
power (energy), Kundalini, known as
the serpent power is in the spine. All
the clues are given here. But many
astrologers miss the point. They study
Jyotish in a traditional way, but they
do not try to understand the
psychology and philosophy of it. My
attempt is to bring about a
renaissance, a new consciousness of
Jyotish.
Jyotish,
the science can be explained by a
simple physics experiment. When we
pass a beam of light through a prism,
the light refracts and opens a
spectrum of seven colors. Here the
prism is the physical body, the beam
of light is the soul, the study of
this spectrum is Jyotish and the
source of that beam of light is God.
The energy that sustains all is The
Kundalini the all pervading cosmic
energy.
The
seven colors of the spectrum
complement the seven planets. There
are two extra un-illumined planets
called Rahu and Ketu. They are the
North and South Poles of that
spectrum. Western Astrology also have
these nodes, they are termed Dragon’s
Head and Dragon’s Tail respectively.
Hence in Jyotish there are seven
planets and two nodes. These planets
are devices used in this science, just
as a clairvoyant use a crystal ball as
a device to predict.
Jyotish
uses a set of formulas. This science
can predict events in one’s life
whether they are humans, animals or
even the planets themselves. In fact,
Jyotish is the map of the soul’s
journey in God or in other words a
journey back to Godhead. In India this
is called - Karma (the happening). As
a matter of fact one’s Past, Present
and Future lives are known. This
science is very vast. Everybody’s
spectrum is unique and when this
spectrum is represented graphically it
is called the Rasi Chakra or Birth or
Natal Chart. The Rasi Chakra tells us
about the individual’s personal and
physical characteristics, financial
position, relationships, academic
achievements, past lives, health,
spousal happiness, disgrace and
illnesses, spiritual attainments,
occupation or means of livelihood,
freedom from misery and gain, divine
knowledge and Moksha (salvation) or
the state of existence after death.
Questions
arise about Birth, sickness and death
and remedial measures, I will give you
a reference from the Bhagawad Gita,
Sri Krishna explained to Arjun that
the soul sitting in the body thinks
that he is the doer of activities in
this physical, astral and causal body.
But all these are mere ego of the soul
in this body and mind. For the mind
misleads. All our actions are
controlled. Our life is predestined -
our Birth, our Life and our Death. The
Doer of all actions is the Supreme
Disinterested Worker of this Universe
who we call Krsna. By the way, this is
the meaning of the word Krishna."
The Krishna is also made of three
words – ‘Kr’ means ‘worker’,
‘ish’ means ‘God’ and ‘na’
means ‘beyond mind’; so when we
put all these together we get ‘Disinterested
Worker beyond the mind who is God or
Ishwar of this Universe.’
Traditionally
sicknesses or bad events in life are
termed as Graha. Masses are generally
instructed to perform Graha Puja to
overcome such events. But I can tell
you that Graha Pujas do not work or
help. By doing such actions one is
only cutting the sick branches, whilst
the seed of sickness is somewhere
else. Nothing has been done to remove
the damaged seed that lies in the
consciousness of the soul. Many of my
clients have reported that they were
instructed to perform a Graha Puja or
they will die. Scared,
these innocent people perform these
Graha Pujas. One should learn to be
responsible for their actions and not
blame the planets. Man has crossed the
solar system, landed on Mars lately;
still ignorant people worship these
planets?
Accumulated
negative happenings from the past
(whether this life or past life)
causes sickness. Sickness does not
come suddenly, but it happens
gradually. But its eruption is
suddenly. Let’s say one was
diagnosed to have diabetes, now that
can come from inherited genetic
hormones or it could be from
accumulated over-indulgence of sweets
in childhood, or alcohol abuse, etc.
Again I mention Sri Krsn in the
Bhagawad Gita (Chapter 2.42-43)
"Arjun, those who are full of
worldly desires and devoted to the
letter of the Vedas, who look upon
heaven, as the supreme goal and they
argue that there is nothing beyond
heaven are unwise. They utter flowery
speech recommending many rituals of
various kinds for the attainment of
pleasure and power with rebirth as
their fruit. Those, whose minds are
carried away by such words, and who
are deeply attached to pleasure and
worldly power, cannot attain the
determinate intellect concentrated on
God.
Jyotish
is not only the study of the planets
in relation to human behavior or a
device to predict past, present or
future. It is a Yogic science that
shows how one can attain Godhead, what
state of life ‘Dasha’ and what
direction ‘Disha’ the soul has
reached on this journey in God. ‘Dasha’
means state of life in Sanskrit and
‘Disha’ direction of life that one
is heading for. "Unfortunately,
the science of Jyotish is very much
misunderstood and ill conceived."
It
is wisely said, "Fools allow
planets to rule them, but a wise man
rules the Planets". Jyotish can
advise what ailments or sicknesses one
could have and when. Remedial measures
are Meditation, Hypnosis and PG
Programming (PG means Pituitary
Gland). The PG programming is a new
technique that I developed over the
last six years and is designed to
communicate with the etheric body of a
person and heal. Patanjali Sutra
declares that with meditation,
concentration and inspirational vision
anything is possible in this universe.
"Death,
is a birth into a different dimension.
To understand more one should study
the Bhagawad Gita, Patanjali Sutra,
and the Upanishads including Jyotish
and learn meditation from a bona fide
Master. Traditional study of Jyotish
or any scripture is obsolete in this
age; a new consciousness, a new
understanding is needed."
Tradition
is no part of me; therefore I am
studying the scriptures in an
unconventional way, a new way. Why?
"Tradition has badly damaged the
consciousness of Man and we need to
change in this New Age. Man is in a
schizophrenic state and this is all
due to tradition, because tradition
puts guilt and condemnation in Man’s
consciousness. Man has become a
beggar, not knowing his true existence
and that he is the Master of his own
destiny! Every Enlightened Master
encourages meditation. Only meditation
can release the potential of man. That
is your birthright!"
The
Philosophy and Psychology of Jyotish
as I understand is "Yes, We are
God, but we are missing Godliness, our
quest to find our true self, our true
reality. Traditionally, we are taught
to love others as we love ourselves,
but how can we love others, when we
cannot learn to love ourselves? To me
"Love Thy Neighbor" does not
mean the person next door; it means
your inner person - the seven bodies
that we are made of first then share
our experiences of Love.
Traditional
chanting of mantras is a mental
substitute; it is a deception, for the
mind is very tricky. Tradition tells
you to create a false sound within
yourself as if your heart is speaking
- it is not. Praying to manmade
imaginary images and expecting
salvation is not going to help. Man
has to put his effort in himself,
nobody is going to help you, and you
have to help yourself. Paying someone
else to pray for you is not going to
help. My observation is that tradition
is only a moneymaking machinery and
there is nothing to gain. Meditation
is the only key to open the door of
your true self. To learn to meditate
one has to find a true bona fide
Master and that is very difficult to
find. One should quest and not
request."
Jyotish
calculates a life span of 120 years to
every entity born on earth, whether it
is humans, plants, aquatics, or birds.
But we do not live so long. We die
before that, for the movements of one
or more than one planet causes the
person’s death. When, How or Where a
person will die can be predicted. The
first four years of a child born here
is influenced by his mothers’ Karma.
Here the meaning of Karma is – the
happening. One cannot blame or pray to
God or man-made images, for the long
life of a dying mother or child. No
one is to be blamed. That’s how it
is. The next four years from the age
of four to eight the child life is
under the karma of his father, same
injunctions apply. Then from the age
of eight to twelve, the child is under
the karma of his past live. If his
past life karma is good, the child
dies for there is no more karma to
undo or to do. He leaves this
dimension and is born in another one.
But if the child karma is not good or
he has not undone his past life karma
he lives up to the age of twelve and
goes beyond that age.
When
the child goes beyond the age of
twelve hes’s allocated 50 million
karmas to undo or to do. Attachment to
Parents, Spouse, Children, Siblings,
Dharma (Religion), Kama (Pleasures),
Artha (Wealth) and Moksha (Salvation)
gives rise to Karma. And these Karmas
are linked with one’s breathing
pattern. A healthy person breathes 16
times a minute, in a day he breathes
23,040 times; in one-year approx. 8.5
million and in a life span of 65 years
he breathes 548 million times.
Attachment increases Karma and
meditation dissolves Karma. These
Karmas are subject to multiply with
the objects of attachments. So if you
have a desire to eat ice cream you
should fulfill that desire within 11
breaths otherwise your allocated
karmas will be increasing. But there
is a way to dissolve karmas – the
only way … Meditation.
Many
times we hear someone say that a
person is suffering because of his bad
karma from his past life. This is a
very irresponsible statement, for the
speaker himself is here too. No one in
this dimension is happy, those who
have every material happiness or have
lived a life of consuming all, he is
unhappy for he is looking for
something more. Those who do not have
material happiness are unhappy too,
for they too want to consume. No one
is happy here. For all this
unhappiness is due to the mind,
conformism, religion and society’s
man made dos and don’ts.
Jyotish
is a Yogic Science – Meditation.
Many times a question is asked,
"What is Meditation"? My
Master Osho answers: "Meditation
is a state of no mind. Meditation is a
state of pure consciousness with no
content. Ordinarily, your
consciousness is too full of dogmas or
rubbish that tradition conforms on
you, just like a mirror covered with
dust. This mind is a constant traffic:
thoughts are moving, desires are
moving, memories are moving, ambitions
are moving – it is a constant
traffic! Day in, day out, it is
dreaming. It is still thinking; it is
still in worries and anxieties. It is
preparing for the next day; an
underground preparation is going on.
This is the state of no meditation.
Just the opposite is meditation. When
there is no traffic and thinking has
ceased, no thoughts move, no desire
stirs, you are utterly silent – that
silence is meditation. And in that
silence the ultimate truth is known,
and never otherwise. Meditation is a
state of no-mind.
And
you cannot find meditation through the
mind, because mind will perpetuate
itself. You can find meditation only
by putting the mind aside, by being
cool, indifferent, unidentified with
the mind; by seeing the mind pass, but
not getting identified with it, not
thinking that I am it.
Meditation
is the awareness that I am not the
mind. When the awareness goes deeper
and deeper in you, slowly, a few
moments arrive – moments of silence,
moments of pure space, moments of
transparency, moments when nothing
stirs in you and everything is still.
In those still moments you will know
who you are, and you will know the
mystery of this existence.
A
day comes, a day of great blessings,
when meditation becomes your natural
state. Mind is something unnatural; it
never becomes your natural state. But
meditation is a natural state –
which we have lost. It is a paradise
lost, but the paradise can be
regained. Look into the child’s
eyes, look and you will see tremendous
silence, innocence. Each child come
with a meditative state, but he has to
be initiated into the ways of the
society – he has to be taught how to
think, how to calculate, how to
reason, how to argue; he has to be
taught words, language, concepts. And
slowly slowly, he loses contact with
his own innocence. He becomes
contaminated, polluted by the society.
He becomes an efficient mechanism; his
no more a man.
All
that is needed is to regain that space
once more. You have known it before,
so when for the first time you know
meditation, you will be surprised –
because a great feeling will arise in
you as if you have known it before.
And that feeling is true; you have
known it before. You have forgotten.
The diamond is lost in piles of
rubbish. But if you can uncover it,
you will find the diamond again – it
is yours.
It
cannot really be lost; it can only be
forgotten. We are born as meditators,
and then we learn the ways of the
mind. But our real nature remains
hidden somewhere deep down like an
undercurrent. Any day, a little
digging, and you will find the source
still flowing, the source of fresh
waters. And the greatest joy in life
is to find it.
So
the first thing is to know what
meditation is. Everything else
follows. I cannot say to you that you
should do meditation, I can only
explain to you what it is. If you
understand me, you will be in
meditation; there is no should to it.
If you don’t understand me, you will
not be in meditation.
Meditation
is nothing but coming back home, just
to have a little rest inside. It is
not the chanting of a mantra, it is
not even a prayer; it is just coming
back home and having a little rest.
Not going anywhere is meditation, just
being where you are; there is no other
‘where’ – just being there where
you are, just occupying only that
space where you are…"
How
one can meditate? Osho said, "One
has to begin from the physical. Then
every other step opens up for you. The
moment you work on the first body, you
have glimpses of the second. So begin
from the physical. Be aware of it
moment to moment and not only
outwardly aware. You can become aware
of your body from the inside also. The
inner feeling is quite different. So
the feeling of the body from within is
the first step."
"First,
and the most basic, is muladhar -
that's why it is called muladhar:
muladhar means the most fundamental,
the basic. ‘Mul’ means the basic,
of the roots. The muladhar chakra is
the centre where sex energy is right
now available, but the society has
damaged that chakra very much. Sex has
been condemned so much you cannot
enjoy it. And that's why energy
remains fixated somewhere: oral, anal,
genital. It cannot go upwards. Man has
to be relieved, de-structured from
these three things. So the first great
work has to happen in the muladhar.
For oral freedom: screaming, laughing,
shouting, crying, weeping, is very
helpful. That's why my choice of
encounter, gestalt, primal and that
type of groups - they are all helpful
to relieve the oral fixation. And to
relieve you of the anal fixation,
pranayam, bastrika -fast chaotic
breathing - is very helpful, because
it hits directly on the anal centre
and makes you able to relieve and
relax the anal mechanism.
And
then the sex centre: the sex centre
has to be relieved of the burden of
guilt, condemnation. You have to start
relearning about it; only then can the
damaged sex centre function in a
healthy way. You have to start
relearning to enjoy it - without any
guilt." Hence Osho devised
dynamic meditation which is of
tremendous value. More information is
available; this is just the tip of the
iceberg. Please inquire here at World

One
reference comes from the life time of
Jesus, in the Bible. Jesus said when
you can focus between your eyebrows
you will become the light for I am the
light. What Jesus was referring to
here is that we are all made of that
light of God. And that what happened
to him (Jesus) can happen to you (us)
as well. Jesus emphasized on
meditation on the Third Eye, but no
Christian follow this simple truth of
Jesus to realize Yourself and Nature.
Christians are NO christians anymore,
they are Crosstians. They have
forgotten Jesus. Enough?
These
planets are allocated various parts of
the body. Here this study can be very
helpful in overcoming various
sicknesses and ailments. Also to
balance the chakras. My analysis is as
